About Us

The first interest in working dogs, was born through my father who has  always been a big field sports man.Our first labrador arrived in 1983,just after my 15th birthday.Drake'(Son of Sarah)was a black dog that was working /show bred.He was my fathers constant shadow, used in all aspects of field work, from dogging in,beating, peg dog, wildfowling, the list was endless, including field competition. Our 2nd dog "Purdy"(morningmist purdy)eventually to become (morningmist purdy at ycart)a yellow bitch who was also show/working bred came to us in 1988,purdy was trained and used in all aspects of work and competition. In 1990 the (affix) "YCART" was obtained from the kennel club, and the first litter holding the ycart affix was born. Our first chesapeake arrived in 1992 "Jarra"(Treacle moon at ycart)a deadgrass bitch that fulfilled above and beyond all my expertations, being an excellent working dog aswell as an excellent show bitch winning many major awards, including, best bitch and best in show at the chesapeake bay retriever club show in 1995.In 1999 saw the first border (oxcroft sage)not a show dog, mainly a pet,but enjoyed days out ratting. In 2000 came along Taz (Ragatam brandy snap at ycart)a red grizzle bitch that was shown only as a puppy, from there on in our dogs have gone from strength to strength, winning many major award, but still maintaining the working ability to do the jobs they where bred to do hence (workers that show).

We judge all breeds that we own and exhibit (labradors, border terriers, chesapeake bay retrievers)at open show level, run under kennel club rules,we also judge at working terrier/hunt kennel shows, and also judge assessments for gundog working certificates.
